What Have I Been Up To?

Seeing that it has been a long time since I have updated my blog, I thought I would offer my apologies and tell you what has been occupying my time lately.

Part of being in Seminary (I would assume this is true of most seminaries) is that there are papers and other projects for certain classes. This past summer I was telling a professor what classes I was taking and he said, "That is a lot of papers." Dang it!! I hadn't thought about that aspect. Overall this semester I had four papers due and one sermon to write on top of translating large chunks of Hebrew each week.

I haven't received any grades on my papers yet (three were turned in less than an hour ago), but overall I am satisfied with what I studied and wrote on. If you are interested here are the "titles" of my papers and one sermon.

Doctrine of God - "Who Looked at the Cat in the Box? Quantum Mechanics and Divine Action"

Preaching Narratives (Sermon) - 1 Samuel 15; "Even Israel's King Can Mess Up Worship"

General Epistles & Revelation - "Defeated and Thrown Down: Comfort in Light of Satan's Explusion From the Courtroom of God" (Rev 12:7-12)

Psalms & Wisdom Literature -"Molars or Millstones? The Eschatological Focus of Ecclesiastes 12:1-7"

Women in Church, Family, and Society - "It's Decision Time, Finally: A Path Forward for the Christian Reformed Church on the Divided Issue of Women's Ordination to Ecclesiastical Office"

So that's that, sounds like a lot of fun doesn't it? Actually all of it was fun and I enjoyed my study, reflection and writing on these subjects.

Hey Mark,

Any chance I could get a copy of that quantum paper? Will it be posted on the Student Paper Clearinghouse (if that thing is even still running--I haven't checked in a year or so)?

David - If you get this can you send me an e-mail? I have my candidates for who this is, but am not sure. Mark

Any chance I could get the "Women in Church, Family, and Society" paper? My Bible study is focusing on women in the Bible and women's role in church. It'd be great to hear your thoughts, although, I think the majority of the women in my Bible Study will differ from your point of view. :-)
